Individuals Setting Off Illegal Firecrackers May Face RMB 5,000 Fine

The Guangzhou Police Department informed the community that firecrackers are banned. According to the Rules of Guangzhou on the Prohibition of Selling and Setting off Fireworks now in effect, no groups or individuals are allowed to set off firecrackers within Yuexiu, Haizhu, Liwan, Tianhe, Baiyun and Huangpu districts. The Huadu, Panyu, Luogang districts as well as Conghua and Zengcheng cities have specified areas where fireworks are not allowed. Any individuals illegally discharging fireworks within the prohibited areas will be fined RMB 10,000 - 20,000 and, for organizations, the fine will be RMB 500 - 5,000.

For the organizations or social units and individuals selling the illegal firecrackers, The industrial and commercial administration authorities, administrative departments of safety production supervision or public security departments will confiscate the fireworks and firecrackers according to the law and fine them not less than RMB 1,000 and not more than RMB 10,000.

Those found carrying illegal fireworks and firecrackers while taking public transportation vehicles such as buses, boats, planes, etc. will be dealt with by the civil aviation, railway, ship, traffic and postal departments according to the law.

To ensure a joyous and auspicious Spring Festival for the public, the police departments have established patrol groups to enhance the security of residential communities, roadways, the streets and urban-rural common areas so as to deal with the illegal discharge of fireworks and firecrackers in a timely manner.
