A research project on the development of Guangzhou's central urban area assigned by Zhu Xiaodan, Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the CPC, was completed by the Institute of Regional Economy of the Guangzhou Academy of Social Sciences on January 30th.
According to the research report, development of the central urban area focuses on three major tasks concerning adjustment of industrial structure, renovation of the old urban area and community culture.
In terms of the report, the development process of urban area will fall into the following four categories:
First, core urban areas like Tianhe District, Yuexiu District, Liwan District and Haizhu District will witness Central Business Districts and clusters of metropolitan industries.
Second, Districts surrounding the core urban areas like Baiyun, Huadu, Panyu and Huangpu will focus on the development of certain advantageous sectors or fields.
Third, Districts like Nansha and Luogang are the major areas which are part of the overall planning for industrial development in terms of the previously formulated strategies for developing the south and east of Guangzhou.
Forth, Conghua and Zengcheng, boasting potential advantages in environment and land resources, will be major areas for future industrial development in Guangzhou.
