On the morning of December 13th, 2007, the cremains of Ma Si Cong and Wang Muli, his wife, officially ¡°rested¡± in the ¡°Jufang Garden¡± of Luhu Park. Nearly 30 relatives and close friends attended the funeral ceremony. The ceremony was simple with no tears and sorrow but flowers and memories.
The remains of Ma Si Cong and Wang Muli, his wife, were placed in the same cinerary casket wrapped with a piece of dark blue scarves, which was held by both hands of Ma Si Cong¡¯s grand-daughter, Ji Yongkai. At 11:15 a.m., the funeral ceremony started as Ma Rulong, son of Ma Si Cong, opened the two bags of ashes and dusted them into the grave. The joint burial of their ashes made Ma Si Cong and Wang Muli¡¯s wishes before their death come true, which were ¡°Let us part no more.¡±
Once the ashes were in the dust, Ma Rulong and others took up the shovel in turn and sprinkled the earth into the grave. And in the end, the group of people stood solemnly before Ma Si Cong¡¯s statuary and bowed three times.
There were also some seniors gathering in front of the statuary, who came to the park for morning exercises and pleasantries. One of the seniors, Mr. Chen said he had learned the news from the newspaper that ¡°Ma Si Cong is coming back¡±. He specially paid a visit to the statuary. ¡°He was a great Maestro with many excellent works, which were worth commemorating¡±.
