Sources from the Municipal Construction Committee said that the buildings within the range of 200 meters along the two banks of the Pearl River would be equipped with lights. When the length of alight buildings is extended, the 30 km shoreline will be clothed in night apparel and the night cruise is expected to reach the Temple of the Nanhai God. The backyard river course of Pearl River which is approximately 4 km long and covers a total area of 180 acres will be greatly transformed. The most ancient goods ports such as Dabancang and Caigucang will be changed into exhibition centers and stadiums only with their facade left untouched.

As a person responsible for the Municipal Sight Office put it, over one hundred sight projects that have been finished in 2007 include the Sight Project along the two banks of the Pearl River, Fangcun Changdi Road, the Riverside Greening Belt of Gangwan Square, the Front Square of General Sun Yat-sen¡¯s House, the Pearl River Embankment Circular Road Greening Project and the Huadi River Bank Greening Project.

The lighting project is just not only confined to Bai E Tan and Guangzhou Bridge. It will also extend to three other sections from Bai E Tan to Hedong Bridge, from Guangzhou Bridge to Dongpu Bridge and from Bai Ee Tan to Zhujiang Bridge. By then the 30 km long bank will be alighted. Currently the construction is well underway. Zhujiang Bridge, Dongpu Bridge, Liberation Bridge and Huangpu Crossroad have already been alighted. Restoration and maintenance projects of the alighted buildings along the two banks as well as the damaged environment have also been completed. The night cruise can advance to the Huangpu old port and the Temple of te\he Nanhai God. Long, Middle and Short routes will be available.
