Sources from the Tianhe District Scientific and Technological Bureau said that the district is about to build the Tianhe Animation Art Institute with Jinan University. The institute to be unveiled early this year will produce animation talents tailored to company needs.

As Chen Jiansheng, a doctor of the Bureau put it, the institute is a non-profit private research institute on the provincial level. It will be sponsored by the Tianhe District Government and rely on the Jinan University Art College and Guangzhou Aofei Culture Broadcasting Company Ltd. to produce pragmatic animation talents for the national animation industry base Tianhe Software Garden, Guangzhou and even Guangdong Province.

Tianhe District will earmark RMB 1 million as initial capital for the institute and Aofei Company will put in RMB 20 million for project research and construction. The institute to be founded will begin to enroll 50 students in each class featuring such preliminary courses as short-term computer animation.

Chen Jiansheng went on to say, "The Guangzhou software (animation) human resources training hub currently under construction in Gaotang District where Tianhe Software Garden is located is expected to be built in late 2008. By then, the institute as a whole will move there. Also, the base will house nearly 4000 students."
