At the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008, one thousand people happily joined ¡®Lucky New Year Tour¡¯ to Longmen County, Huizhou, Guangdong. GZL Guangdong Tour Manager Jiang Weiming said that, the tour was organized by Longmen Tourism Board and GZL travel agency, and warmly welcomed by local citizens to greet 2008 during the New Year holidays.

Mountain climbing, lucky returns

The two-day tours ¡°Baishui Village, Nankun Mountain Hot Spring¡±, and ¡°Longyan Temple, Xiangxi Castle¡± were the most popular Guangdong tours during New Year¡¯s holidays.

Because of the 9999 steps, Baishui Village is called 'the No.1 Step in South China'. The steps extend 6.6 kilometers, cross 3 mountains and connect with 2 natural lakes. [more about Baishui Village]

Nankun Mountain is about 105km northeast of Guangzhou. As part of the Nan Ling mountain range surrounding the northern part of the Guangdong Province, it has peaks rising to over 1200m in height.

Hot spring, wash away the dirt

There is a Cantonese saying "Wash away the dirt on nian'er'ba  (the 28th day of the last month of the Chinese lunar calendar)" (ÄêØ¥°Ë£¬Ï´åååÝ). But the practice is not usually restricted to that day. It is believed that the cleansing sweeps away the bad luck of the preceding year. [more about Lunar New Year--Custom]

On the first day of 2008, local Cantonese also rush to Nankun Mountain hot spring. It is really relaxing when dipping yourself into the hot water with minerals on such cold winter days! (Reported by Shanna Chu, Alan Devey)
