Senior officials in the Guangzhou Yuexiu District recently announced that the Wende Road Cultural and Commercial Street Project is now underway and a working team has been put in place. Wende road is expected to be transformed into a culturally unique street in a comprehensive way.
The street will take on a space layout that features one nucleus, one axis and three stretches. The total area lies to the north of Wenming Road, west of Cangbian Road Extension Line, east of Beijing Road and south of Nanyue Dynasty Palace Ruins and Chenghuang Temple. One nucleus refers to the Nanyue Dynasty Palace Ruins and Chenghuang Temple and one axis is the cultural and commercial zone along the two sides of Wende Road. The three stretches the northeast part which mainly displays higher learning institution Culture of Lingnan, the western part that showcases folk culture and traditional Lingnan crafts and the southeast part which dedicated to artistic and cultural products.
Sources from Yuexiu Economic and Trade Bureau say that additional plans such as the 11th Five Year Specific Plan of Trade and Service Industry of Yuexiu District, the Guangzhou and Beijing Road International Commerce and Trade Tourism Zone Development Plan. According to the plan, Yushan Road is expected to be incorporated into the Pedestrian Street of Beijing Road, thus turning the 100m road section into a pedestrian street as well as a home to food and drink establishments.
