During the winter, it's cold outside. But in Dongpo town Lianzhou city, which is in the northwest of Guangdong province, every family is busy making dried salted eggs. The climate there is suitable for making dried salted food. Dried salted food has become a convention there, and the food is not only popular at home but also abroad.

All the food is dried naturally by wind. The quality of the food depends on the season. So every year they only produce the food in the cold autumn and winter time or the food will lose its flavor. The town is far from any cities and there are few factories there. The favorable air conditions provide the possibility for producing dried salted foods.

People in the town never show off about their skills in making dried salted food. They say that the wind that brings them the food.

It is said that during the Ming Dynasty 2 people from Dongguan came here with the skill of making dried salted food. They produced the food according to the environment of the town. Then the food became popular. Surprisingly, the history of the food is 300 old years already, and the dried salted eggs are the most famous.

Early in the 1930s, the food from Dongpo town was sold to south Asia.
