Sources from the press conference said that the 4th Guangzhou Folk Culture Festival & Huangpu "Bo Luo Dan" Temple Fair - a grand folk event in Guangzhou's Huangpu District on the 11th to 13th day of the second month of the lunar year that has boasted a history of over one thousand years - will open on March 16th and come to an end on March 22nd at the Nanhai God Temple which was built on the site of the ancient Fuxu Port. In addition, visitors will attend the "Flower-worshipping Festival", a custom that has been suspended for nearly 100 years.

According to Huang Yingfeng who was in charge of the Nanhai God Temple, the "Flower-worshipping Festival" is expected to be the highlight of the "Bo Luo Dan" Temple Fair. It used to be held just after the last day of the "Bo Luo Dan" Temple Fair when girls would get together at the Nanhai God Temple, enjoying the beautiful flowers. 

Zhang Ruihua, Vice Director of the Guangzhou Municipality Bureau of Culture, said that the 4th Guangzhou Folk Culture Festival was one of the major events for celebrating the 2,222nd anniversary birthday of Guangzhou.

For the first time, diplomats from 23 consulates in Guangzhou would be invited to attend the folk culture festival on the morning of the 21st. They would make Bo Luo rooster, a kind of paper rooster, and traditional food with the local residents.
