The torch to be used to inagurate the 29th Olympic Games was lit at the ancient Olympic site in Athens of Greece on March 24th and the flame began to be passed along, crossing the five Continents in the world. To grant witness this world-wide affair, the State Post Bureau of China has issued a set of stamps¡ªthe Torch Relay of the 29th Olympic Games, consisting of 2 stamps and one souvenir sheet of stamps. The self-adhesive stamp set will also be issued soon. This is the first time for China to issue stamps related to the torch relay of Olympic Games thus Guangzhou citizens are able to see them at the Olympic Franchise Store of Postal Products on Beijing Road (Lu in Chinese).

The torch for the Beijing Olympics will arrive in Guangdong Province (the first inland province) and begin its journey in China from Guangzhou on May 7th. After approval by the Beijing Olympics Committee, the Guangzhou Olympic Franchise Store of Postal Products was opened by the State Post Bureau and is the first of its kind in Guangzhou.

In the near future, the Guangzhou Post Bureau will issue special commemorative postmarks for each stop of the torch relay as well as other related postal products in advance and provide convenient service at each stop of the torch relay. Guangzhou citizens can witness this event and collect the "commemorative envelope and postmark for each stop" all on the very day when the torch arrives at that stop.
