Donation collection vehicles formed a long queue at the entrance of Guangzhou Social Donation Reception Workstation, and officials had to rent warehouses to store the donated materials. The Civil Affairs Department delivered the materials to the storage areas over night. As of 6:00 p.m. January 29, Guangzhou Social Donation Reception Workstation received a total of 3,061 military overcoats, 1,269 cotton quilts, 20,730 assorted garments and 619 cases of foodstuffs from various government agencies and citizens from all walks of life. The Workstation staff had to rent to store the donations and staff them to receive donations 24 hours a day.

A spokesperson for the Guangzhou Social Donation Reception Workstation said that "Individual and business donations are all at high levels. To stock these donations in an organized way, we rented warehouses near the Guangzhou Railway Station East.
